How To Use the Charity Resource Guide

The Constitution of the Organization of Triangles, Inc., states that the charitable focus of this organization should be to aid children with special needs. This is a most worthy cause, and one close to the heart of the young women who are the members of Triangle.  

In this day and age, it has come to the attention of some members that unscrupulous individuals may portend themselves as a charitable entity, while they use the money of generous donors to their own end. This is a shame, and an activity that robs needy children. This guide looks to suggest various proven and worthwhile charities that Triangle girls may donate to with confidence, knowing their hard earned money will support and aid the children that desperately need it.

At times finding information about various charitable causes at the end of a term of office may be a daunting and tedious task. Triangle girls must be aware of a number of factors before they should entrust their donations to any charitable group. This resource guide is complied to give suggestions and guidelines by which Triangle girls can follow to ensure that their donation is given to the most needy causes.

On the following pages is a list of various charities and research institutions that have had years of success and support the needs of crippled, sick, and terminally ill children and their families. It also includes contact information and websites, so that the girls themselves can do the research on a charity that they feel will most benefit from a donation.

Remember during your charity research the following:

1. -         All charities should have clear contact information, any vagueness or discrepancies in address or phone numbers should render such a charity suspicious
2. -         Try to determine what percentage of donations goes directly to the programs you look to support; this does not include administrative expenses. Look for charities that have less than 10% of the donations go toward such other expenses.
3. -         Make your best effort to support charities that follow the purpose of the charitable cause of Triangle, namely crippled children. This can be taken as sick, ill, or otherwise needy children.
4. -         Try to support charities that have a proven and available track record, whether in research or their chosen programs. Newer and unproven charities may run the risk of using your donations to defray costs not associated with your desired program.
5. -         Make sure you are in contact with a specific person at the charity before you make your donation. You should have that person’s full name, and his or her position in the charity. They should be able to guide you through the process of giving a donation.
