What is Triangle?
The Organization of Triangles is a fraternal youth organization started in 1926 by Rose E. Scherer. Young women between the ages of 10-21 may join. Triangle is not a religious group but, members are encouraged to believe in a Supreme Being. Girls of all religious denominations have been and are welcome as members. We have advisors, but we are in charge of planning and conducting our own meetings and activities. We help the community through service projects and we participate in fun stuff too like bowling or dances, and trips throughout the state and country!
What is like to become a member?
In Triangle, the initiation ceremony (when you become a member) is very serious and educational and is the same ceremony that was conferred upon members in 1926. It is designed around the three duties of the Triangle: to God (or Supreme Being), to others, and to oneself. New members are taught the expectations of what it means to be a Triangle Girl and are shown the proper way to conduct themselves as members of the organization. There is absolutely no hazing or pledging.
How often do Triangles meet?
Regular meetings of local Triangle chapters are usually held twice every month (with the exception of holidays and summer months). Special meetings are called when necessary. Triangles plan fun events throughout the month that are optional for members to participate in.
What does Triangle do?
Dances, meetings, fundraisers, community service projects, state events (conventions or leadership conferences), sports, camping, public speaking, parties, and much more! Members can expect to do all these things over the course of any year. Plus, since the organization is run by the members, if you love to do it, you can plan it in Triangle!
Is Triangle outside of New York?
The Organization of Triangles is only active in New York State.
