Convention 2007

The Organization of Triangles hosts a biennial convention for all our members and advisors each odd-numbered year. The 24th Biennial Convention in 2007

NOTE CHANGE IN  LOCATION

will be held at the Fallsview Best 5 Resort and Spa in Ellenville, NY  - October 5 thru 8th. E-mail questions to the webmaster.

Each Triangle has been assigned a movie for the convention as follows:

 

  Triangle Movie Assignments

 

  • Fidelity –  The Little Mermaid

  • Fides – Peter Pan

  • Truth - Footloose

  • Endicott – Phantom of the Opera

  • Bal-on-sen – Alice in Wonderland

  • Meridian – Sound of Music

  • Lockport – Grease

  • Astarte – Mary Poppins

  • Sunrise – Wizard of Oz

  • Onistagrawa – Annie

  • Cassiopeia – Back to the Future

  • Amethyst – Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

  • Remembrance – Gone with the Wind

The Contests for the Convention Awards, etc are as follows: 

 

Swap Contest

Senior Advisor: Mrs. Diane Northrup

Junior Advisor: Ms. Tiffany DiBenedetto

  • Create a signature piece for your assigned movie. The swap must be no bigger than 4” X 6” and no smaller than 2” X 2”. Your Triangle name must be somewhere on the swap.

 

Essay Contest

Senior Advisor: Ms. Kristina Melchert

Junior Advisor: Ms. Sara Verma

  • Age groups: 10 – 13; 14 – 17; 18 – 21

  • Pick a movie and related it to your Triangle experience. Does not have to be your Triangle’s assigned movie. Must be between 250 and 400 words. On the BACK of each page of your essay include your name, age and name of Triangle.

 

Poster Contest

Senior Advisor: Mrs. Amylou Lynch

Junior Advisor: Ms. Brittney Dobbs

  • Age groups: 10 – 13; 14 – 17; 18 – 21

  • Create a movie premiere poster for your Triangle. Should include your Triangle name and you Triangle’s assigned movie. Size – no smaller than 8-1/2” x 11” and no bigger than 28” x 22-1/2”. Computer clip art may be used but must have your own original design.

 

Scrap Book Contest

Senior Advisor: Mrs. Cristi Hildreth

Junior Advisor: Ms. Marissa Tang

  • Make a title page using the Convention theme “A Hollywood Affair”. Must be 8” X 11”.

 

Ritual Contest

Senior Advisor: Mr. Frank Tuttle

Junior Advisor: Ms. Catie Brandt

  • From the Memorial Degree (pages 29 – 31 in the Ritual):

    • 10 – 13; Guardian & Chaplain.

    • 14 – 17; All but the Queens part.

    • 18 – 21; Entire degree.

  • Participants must memorize the designated part in its entirety. Participants must be dressed appropriately including: floor length white dress, white gloves, white shoes, and sash.

 

 

T-Shirt Contest

Senior Advisor: Mrs. Mary Madison

Junior Advisor: Ms. Kellie Walker

  • Create a t-shirt representing your assigned movie. Include a quote from your movie and decorate accordingly. Movie title and Triangle name are optional. Computer clip art may be used but must have your own original design.

 

Talent Show

Senior Advisor: Ms. Eleanor Hynes

Junior Advisor:  Katie Northrup and Incoming State Rep

  • Categories;

    • Solo/Duet

    • Musical

    • Group

  • All acts have a 4 minute time limit. There are a maximum of 3 acts per Triangle.

 

Triangle Grams

Ice Cream Social

Senior Advisor: Mr. Joseph Pozefsky

Junior Advisor: Ms. Meagan Cummings

  • 80th Birthday Party for the Organization of Triangles. Come to the Birthday Ice Cream Social dressed as the characters of your assigned movie. There be lots of fun including a Cookie Eating Contest.

 

Ice Breaker

Senior Advisor:  Mr. Diane Northrup

Junior Advisors: Ms. Stephanie Pelham, Ms. Kristina Little

  • An ice breaker will be held during the ice cream social to start off the weekend.

 

Pizza Party

Senior Advisor: Mr. Joseph Pozefsky

Junior Advisor: Ms. Becky Kircher

  • There will be a Pajama Party theme. Pajamas may be worn as long as they are Triangle appropriate. “Hollywood” games and other fun activities will be included.

 

Worship Service

Senior Advisor: Mrs. Cristi Hildreth

Junior Advisors: Ms. Michelle Whipkey, Ms. Michelle D’Angiolillo

 

Raffle

Senior Advisor: Mrs. Susan Stockwell

Junior Advisor: Ms. Susan Walter

  • Each Triangle will be asked to put together a basket of unique items from their location in New York with a minimum cost of $25. These baskets will be raffled off Sunday night at Convention. The tickets will be sold at $1 a ticket or $10 for 15. Please give your basket to Ms. Susan Walter when you register for the weekend.

 

Sunday Morning there will be a Worship and Memorial Service that will be coordinated by Mrs. Madison and Ms. Nicole Walker and the Triangles of the Capital District.

 

There will be a Pizza Party Friday Evening, October 5th and an Ice Cream Social on Saturday Evening, October 6th – Times and location will be announced.

 

Coketail Party – prior to Banquet on Sunday, October 7th. Red Carper Theme – Details depends on Resorts Accommodations.
